2nd annual Plates and Totems

Plates, Totems, & Teapots
Sat, April 21, 2012 – Sat, June 2, 2012

Juror: Christy Johnson
Christy Johnson is currently Director of the American Museum of Ceramic Art, located in Pomona. Following the receipt of a BA in English Literature from  California State University Los Angeles, Johnson switched her emphasis to art and ceramic studies, most notably at Otis Art Institute under Ralph Bacerra and at Pasadena City College with Phil Cornelius. Her credits include a lengthy ceramic career, with many exhibitions and awards throughout the Southland. After twenty years in the ceramic field, Johnson gradually shifted her interest to producing and curating art exhibitions. In 2004, several months before AMOCA’s inaugural exhibition, Johnson joined the museum. Today Johnson oversees museum administration; facilitates AMOCA’s diverse, five-exhibition-a-year schedule; directs the ceramic education program; and guides management of the permanent collection.
